We see SCAMP – Landscape Connections as an opportunity to make the most of our region’s natural capital.

Through Facility for Investment Ready Nature in Scotland funding we have been exploring green finance opportunities, from emerging saltmarsh credits to the more recent biodiversity credits being discussed for Scotland. As part of the delivery of the project we will help inform and develop the blue carbon private capital markets.

We expect the delivery of SCAMP to be over a 10-year period and cost approximately £20million, with a blend of funding from public sector, third sector and private sector sources.

Regardless of credits, investing in SCAMP is an opportunity to make a difference and help our natural environment to restore and thrive into the future. As the Solway is the least industrialised coastline in Europe, there is a real opportunity to explore what might be possible here.

Restoring nature has never been more important as we begin to better understand how survival of all life relies on a healthy, thriving underwater and coastal ecosystem. SCAMP offers the chance to help nature thrive and survive against a backdrop of the nature climate crisis. By investing in SCAMP we are investing in nature restoration at scale, backed up by academic science and robust monitoring and evaluation, and being part of a project designed to restore and protect the coastal and marine environment for people, nature and climate. To discuss investment opportunities please email SCAMP@dumgal.gov.uk.
