Contract Opportunity – SCAMP-Saltmarsh Expansion

Home » News & Events » Contract Opportunity – SCAMP-Saltmarsh Expansion

We require consultant support to design saltmarsh solutions on two land holdings along the Dumfries and Galloway Coastline. The project will build upon pervious work carried out by Dumfries and Galloway Council and its consultants. Using the Royal Institute of British Architects staging process we would expect, at the end of the project to have two projects that will be at RIBA 4 equivalent, i.e. fully costed with technical and detailed design completed and costs calculated. Dumfries and Galloway Council has already completed RIBA1 and 2 (Feasibility and concept design) for one site and has third party plans prepared for another site. These plans and all associated documents are in the tender pack. Dumfries and Galloway Council has also competed ecological surveys on the farm holdings, this will be shared with the successful consultant.

The consultant will liaise directly with the landowners and find a solution that maximises salt marsh potential and expansion but with an acceptable (to the land manager) economic impact on the business actives of the landholding. This contract is purely for the management of the project and design of the sites. It does not include sums for additional professional services. It will be imperative therefore that additional professional services required (for example Hydrology) are identified as soon as possible after contract acceptance and a procurement process to sub contract these elements is agreed and a strategy for tendering, by the contractor using Dumfries and Galloway Council procurement guidelines is outlined. The consultant will then manage this procurement exercise on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council. Dumfries and Galloway Council will make the payments to the subcontractors.

The Contract Value for management will not exceed £40,000 (ex VAT)

All design works must be completed by the 31st January 2027 with the contract to be complete by 30th April 2027.
