Join us to find out more about Johnstone Bridge’s innovative hydro scheme and its capacity to generate power. David Johnstone of Annandale Estates will discuss if this method of generating electricity is something we should be embracing now and in the future. With opportunities to ask questions and consider the potential role of hydro schemes as technology improves and develops.
The water rushing down the hillsides and valleys of Annandale also has the power to spread seeds. Many rivers and burns across Annandale are struggling with invasive species which are swept down the valley with the water. However, the good news is Galloway Fisheries Trust (who look after many of our region’s rivers), have partnered with the Annan District Salmon Fishery Board , CABI and Annandale Estates to tackle the Himalayan balsam that covers the banks of the River Annan. Kacie, an environmental biologists and Galloway Fisheries Trust’s INNS officer, will explain more about the challenges of looking after the health of the river Annan.
